Pumpkins and Peacocks - Finished

Pumpkins and Peacocks from The Goode Huswife.
Started March 24, 2010 - Finished March 26, 2010.
Stitched with dmc floss on 25 count black lugana, one over one.
Changed the peacocks bodies and heads, and added a pumpkin.
Finished size is slightly over 3 x 4.5 inches.
While I still had a scrap of black handy, it seemed like a quick pattern to stitch.

The highlight this week was e-mailing Tracy at Ink Circles, and having her post my Quaker Floral Puzzle on her blog. She had such nice things to say, both on her blog, and on my blog, and so it was all a thrill. For me, a truly great design can be stitched many different ways and it will always be beautiful. She's proven that over and over again in her designs.
Thanks Tracy.

And I wanted to thank Claire for the nice Sunshine Award. It was my first too. Thank you.
I'm not very good about passing things on though. I always say that I could never hold a tupperware party, because nobody would come.

Today, I went to make a couple of stitching copies of patterns at the local copy shop.
The woman at the copy shop said she would never make copies for me, because that would violate the copyright. I told her that I knew she wasn't a stitcher.
The next place I went was a major office supply chain. I waited because there was only one woman in front of me. The girl finished with the woman and then went back to her copier and yelled at me saying that what ever I wanted she couldn't possibly do today. She didn't even ask me what I wanted.
The next place I went, the woman working the counter was a stitcher, so she understood, but her copier didn't do large paper.

Even just stitching the Pumpkins and Peacock above, I stitched a night, and then had to start over because I miscounted one stitch. It was nice to start with a clean pattern copy again, and not one that was half highlighted, and trying to remember where I needed to restitch.
I can't imagine stitching any pattern anymore without a highlighter.

It's really been a week of ups and downs, and I did actually find a nice man at a copy shop that understood why you need copies when you stitch. He made me copies.

Goode Huswife - The Black Forest - Finished

The Black Forest from The Goode Huswife - finished.
Started Saturday March 20, 2010 - Finished Monday March 22, 2010.
Stitched on 25 count black lugana, one over one, with the recommended dmc color floss.
Finished size is 3.75 x 3.5 inches.

The pattern isn't symmetrical, and I changed a few stitched here and there to make it more symmetrical, but left the deer slightly different.

The Goode Huswife released a few more of her out of print patterns, and has made this one, and many others available again on her web-store.

Ink Circles - Quaker Floral Puzzle - Finished

Ink Circles - Quaker Floral Puzzle - finished.
Stitched on 25 count black lugana. One strand of floss over one thread.
Stitched with Weeks Dye Works - Whiskey floss. Used 28 yards of six strand floss.
Finished size is 9 inches square.
Started Saturday, March 6, 2010 - Finished Saturday, March 20, 2010.

Lovely and relaxing pattern to stitch.
I'd love to send Tracy at Ink Circles a photo of this, especially because I know that the pattern hasn't been stitched by lots of stitchers yet. But I don't know Tracy, and the chances of her just randomly finding this photo are probably zero.

Beautiful pattern, beautiful design. I'm very happy with the way it came out.

Quaker Floral Puzzle - Almost

Quaker Floral Puzzle - Almost Done...
Just a few more days of stitching to finish this pattern.
Quaker Floral Puzzle, Bramble and the Rose, and Growth Rings will all hang together and be framed the same. Might add Long Dog's St Sylvestre to make it a foursome.

Quaker Floral Puzzle - Halfway

Quaker Floral Puzzle from Ink Circles, after one week stitching, and 15 yards of floss.

Quaker Floral Puzzle continues

Quaker Floral Puzzle continues.
Still have that little area that I skipped. I'm not very organized about stitching a page, it's just getting stitched in random directions. At this point I'm still under 10 yards of floss used.

Her patterns are lovely, and this proves that stitching it in a single color works for this design as well. I may have to stitch this pattern again. I'd like to see it in red on white.

Start - Quaker Floral Puzzle

Start of Ink Circles - Quaker Floral Puzzle.
Stitched with Weeks Dye Works - Whiskey floss on 25 count black lugana, one over one.
Started Saturday March 6, 2010
Wanted to stitch this pattern in a single color.
Wasn't finding any rhythm to stitching my other patterns, but this is a pattern that's stitching quickly, and a pleasure to stitch.

Willow Tree Sampler - Complete

Willow Tree Sampler from Carriage House Samplings / Barrick Samplers.
Used dmc floss per the pattern, and stitched on a scrap of 28 count white evenweave.
Stitched one over one. Finished area 5 1/2 by 3 7/8 inches.
Changed the name, with years of birth / death. Added one line of stitching to the bottom row. Took me more than a week to stitch, and part of an evening to draw the name section out before stitching it.
Total cost to stitch - 3 dmc floss - $1.30.
