Then was the ReStart...

This is PeliCan when I started it.  I was using a Colour and Cotton floss - on PTP Doubloon.
This is PeliCan when I RESTARTED it.  Same PTP Doubloon, and now using dmc 938, it's a dark brown, but this makes it look darker than it it is.  Crap camera.
Now officially, I admit I screwed myself up on the restart.  I couldn't get the stitches to come out, and I had a fat half cut, so I just flipped it around to start from the other end.  It was going to be less than half of the cut anyway.  About the second try to unstitch - I just scissor cut out the stitched corner - tossed it.
Then I remembered - and went - ah crap.
Before I did this Courtney design in both the pattern way, and the mirror image way - I loved it.
That was also the plan for this pattern - so I would get....

And the fabric was big enough - till I scissor cut that corner out that I could not get unstitched...
Now - it's not big enough anymore.  So I messed up.  I am two pages of twenty pages completed.  It's the first skein of floss completed at the point I am now.   Which is all fine - I am happier with the dmc results.  But it wasn't the plan I started with.  What you can see at the moment is the bottom photo - lower right corner.  I now have more stitched on the restart than I did on the original start, but I have a long way to go.  If I had remembered, I maybe could have still gotten them both on there.  But I was most of the way thru the first page - when I remembered WHY the cut of fabric was soooo big.
I can still order more of the Doubloon - it might match - and it might not at all.  But I do basically have the butt end of the bird stitched - and figuring all this out - I felt a bit like the butt end of the bird too.  It's all good - most things work out in my life.  I can laugh about this and make fun of myself.  I also have the Knightmare helmet design - I planned to do that two ways too - and if I had messed up on that - more upset - so I'm good if I only end up with ONE bird.  Completed - it's 14 x 11 inches.  By the time it is complete, once might be enough.  Maybe a second bird still fits on this fabric - but wow the side margins are narrower.  The plan NOW is - I'm going to just stitch the ONE bird, and enjoy that, and see what that leaves me.

A Little Finish

The small from Squirrels of Sumatra from Ink Circles - Finished.
This is on 40 count PTP Legacy - one over two.  Dmc floss.
3.25 H x 3.5 W in inches.
Finish #7 for 2019.  Can't seem to find a groove to stitch and make progress on bigger projects. Or I will think of something I know is started, but then I can't find it.  Considering a restart, but that means lots of unstitching first to save the fabric.  It's fancy floss at the moment, but it's ending up as stripes going the wrong direction on a birds feathers.  It's possible to do, but wow, I don't want to think that hard on a big project for months.  Too easy to mess up a foot or a beak or something.  The floss is fine, just not for the pattern I paired it with.

A Restart and a Small

Needleprint - Ackworth School Deborah Cockin 1806.
PTP Gingerbread 28 count, one over one with dmc 814.
This was started with white dmc - which just was not solid enough, so picked that out, and restarted with dmc 814.  There are pattern mistakes to fix if quaker motifs are at least sort of balanced.  But I did get from bottom to top.
This is the small from the new Ink Circles - Sumatra Squirrels pattern.  I am trying to fill in that scrap of 40 count that I bought, but will NEVER buy more.  So this is about 3.5 inches.  Using dmc flosses.  One over two.

Almost Halfway...

Back to Courtney Collection's Alphabet Song.
This is now about the size of a piece of paper sideways.  It is six skeins of dmc floss used.  That 'T.' at the bottom center, that is the center of this.  This is 13 of 28 rows of text completed, also 13 of 28 pages are are now completed. I know it is hard to read, so I will simply write out what is completed.
"Once There Was A Poor Seamstress who had been orphaned as a child, and widowed as a young mother and knew only a life of drudgery.   Nevertheless, as she stitched from dawn into the night, she sang.  Sometimes aloud and sometimes in a whisper.  Year after year she sewed and sang.  The garments which came from her hands were many and varied.  She repaired a farmers overalls as carefully as she embroidered a bridal gown.  Yet the song that she sang remained the same; it wasn't a song at all, over and over, to whatever melody came to mind she sang the letters of the alphabet.  Finally her neighbors............   "
Nice to have it filling in, but I can only do a few days of this at a time.

Finish #6

This is where it was when I picked it up again....
This is now finished.  Baby It's Cold Outside from Heartstring Samplery.
On 28 count PTP Ale, one over one.  I changed the outside border to Dark Chocolate, the house to Merlot, the trees to Juniper.  The windows are just the fabric, but almost appear lit, and I don't have a floss that works, so skipping it.   Altered the letters slightly here and there.  Added the apostrophe to make it say 'it's', not 'its'  I wanted the house darker, the border darker, it's supposed to be green  diamonds and red dots.  I felt it might pop better with white dots and red dots to pull it together.
Skipped adding the three chimneys.  Finished size is slightly over 5 by 3.25 inches
It's finish #6 for this year so far.  I am not picky about the order I finish things, just that I do finish something now and then.

A New Start.....

New Start - Autumn Fraktur - Plum Street Samplers.  Using Doubloon 28 count lugana and fancy flosses.  One over one.  Happy with the results so far.
