Five of Twelve blocks completed.

Carriage House - Shores of Hawk Run Hollow.  I did the house in the top row, then finished the moon block in the corner.  Five of twelve blocks completed.

3 of 12 finished...

Shores of Hawk Run Hollow - Carriage House Samplings.  Finished a third block on that bottom row.  Started the third block of the top row... mostly because it is a house... and houses take a while.  Each block is about 90 x 90 stitches just to wrap my head around things.  And I am going slowly to verify that I stitched my boxes correctly years ago.  One box at a time....

Another Block Done...

Finished the already started bottom corner block, and then started the bottom row second block. Shores of Hawk Run Hollow from Carriage House.  I don't know how to count the finished blocks... I doubt I will hang with this long enough to finish the whole thing.  So it won't get to a complete finish this round.  But it has been lovely to pick it back up again.  I also have Houses of Hawk Run already started and in the pile of started things.  Two blocks done, is a long way from having twelve blocks done...

And just because it was easy, here is where Houses of Hawk Run Hollow got to...  Not sure, but it was one of the photos from some point I would have posted in the past.  Feels like I should stop Shores and go finish Houses since it might get to a finish...  But I would like to finish a few of the blocks on Shores this round.

From The Already Started Pile....

Pulled Shores of Hawk Run Hollow from Carriage House back out.  It was last seen in March of 2020.  I had the end 3 blocks started, and decided to start that whale block - and completed it.  I took the photo before I had all the water in, but filled it in after the photo.  One whole block done.  Then started to fill in the bottom corner 12th block.  The below  photo shows where it was when I picked it back up.

I am having a bit of trouble finding my stitching bug.  I sit down intending to stitch, and somehow just play solitaire on the computer instead.  My body is still in after chemo repair mode... which honestly seems like it can take a whole year after treatment ends.  The good news is - I do have plenty to stitch.

Two More Finishes...

Finish #9 for 2023.  Carriage House - Blooming Basket.  Used PTP Vellum lugana 28 count, one over one, using suggested dmc flosses.  The pattern was one of several patterns purchased from a shop closing.  Not my favorite colors, but it was okay.

Finish #10 for 2023.  Little Red Schoolhouse Pinkeep - Pansy Patch Quilts and Stitchery.  On PTP Ale 28 count, one over one, using Gloriana silk in the 062 Cranberry color.  When I saw it, I ordered it.

Violets and Verses - Mary Woodrow.  Went back to this one, and the borders met up.  On the pattern the  "U" and "V" were reversed on that completed line, so I just fixed it and did it first so I would not forget.  Dove Gray 28 count jobelan, and dmc 3799, so a gray on gray effect.  However, I don't think Dove Gray is offered anymore.

My treatment ended... I have follow up things, and my insurance might have ended.  It took me 51 weeks, and I really pushed at the end to get the last couple of appointments in before June ended to be sure I was covered.

Finishes and Starts...

Finish #7 for 2023.  Used the suggested floss.

Finish #8 for 2023.  Used the suggested fancy flosses.  My Big Toe Designs - Battle Hymn of the Republic.  Started it, and finished it.  28 count antique white jobelan, one over one.

Carriage House - Blooming Basket.  Using suggested dmc flosses, on PTP 28 count Vellum lugana.
Teresa Kogut - Bloomin' Hens.  Using suggested fancy flosses on PTP 28 count Vellum lugana, one over one.  It's about the size of a recipe card - so not as big as it seems.  The bottom half is finished.  And I am leaving off the bees.

Teresa Kogut - Nature.  Using suggested flosses.  Kinda wandering on this one.  It's much bigger than it looks, even one over one.

I started radiation last week.  I went to schedule getting my port removed, and be on his surgical schedule for after radiation, and then asked if they had surgery the next day, and if there were openings, and the nurse said yes to both.  So I suddenly was getting the port out the next day before radiation started.  Surgery on a Friday, start radiation on a Tuesday.  But I was glad to have it out.  So far I have done 6 of 30 treatments.  The ladies there are very nice, and get you in and out. My hair has started to grow again.  It is so short that I am still wearing hats when I go places.  My body has lots of things to fix, and it doesn't happen overnight.  They placed a sensor on my skin to check the level during my first radiation treatment.  And it felt like a warmed stone.  They warn me about everything, but said nothing.  So I asked - was that heated?  Cause I felt the same feeling on the second one.  And the third one, I knew it was there, but didn't feel anything.  The women assured me it was not heated.  But I asked the doctor about it later.  My body is a bit cross wired - I feel it on my skin, but I feel heat, and there is not heat.  So a connection that is not really correct.  Lovely.  Cross Wired basically.  But somethng I had not considered till the doctor said it.  I still have numbness in my fingertips.  Which makes stitching a bit weird.  It was one of the last things I got during chemo, and I know it's a normal side effect.  I think by next week I might start to get eyebrows again.  I have had a few hairs, but the first ones back were the ones you need to pluck out and not in the line of your eyebrows at all.  If you can't laugh when stuff like that happens...  you are screwed with what happens to you during cancer.

Finish #10 and Finish #11

Sarah Spurr from Carriage House Samplings.  Used the suggested dmc flosses.  I outlined her face and arms so they didn't disappear into the fabric.  And it's lovely once I did that.  Changed the name and date to personalize it for me.  Finished size is 5 1/8 x 6 1/4 inches.  Stitched one over one on Laurel Green Lugana 28 count.  And just for the record, Laurel Green is not green at all but more like cake batter.  And it's finish #10 for 2022.

Finish #11 for 2022.  Happy Christmas from Prairie Schooler.  On 25 count Black lugana, one over one.  Changed the flosses, skipped the text, the squirrels went from red to gray.  Changed the sleigh to gray instead of green.  Measures about 4 x 5.25 inches.  I know the changes started cause the bell being the same color as the reindeer didn't seem right.  So those bright yellow houses should again be reindeer brown.  But brown houses seemed kinda drab.  But if you are seeing this and considering the colors... oh no, my colors for the red and yellow....  not the suggested colors at all.  But it IS completed now.

Finish #9 for 2022

Ink Circles - The Red Ship of Lesser Commitment.  Finish #9 for 2022.  Used more than one skein, but less than two of dmc 938.  One over one, on 28 count China Pearl Jobelan.  It was a new start and I stayed with it till it was completed.  We are not counting, but I think it is my third new start and finish so far this year.  The point is NOT to make the already started pile larger.

Yep, number 4 is the smallest, and is turned sideways on the fabric.  But it's a bit hard to tell scale, so...

Big Red Ship - the largest is 12 inches wide x 14 inches high.  March 20, 2021

Modestly Sized Ship is 10 inches wide x 9 inches high.   April 5, 2021

Small Ship is 6 x 6 inches.   March 8, 2022

Smallest (today) is 4.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches high.   April 26, 2022

Dates after are finish dates, two last year, two this year, almost a year apart.  Who knew that March and April were Ink Circles Ships months for me?  For me, this series is completed.  I liked it and enjoyed it, but I'm out of fabric.

I had picked up Sarah Spurr, and was filling it in when I picked up that ship stuff.  It's was so close, and looked like the below photo when I picked it back up again.  Leaves on tree, hand flower leaves,  and the light part on the bird ( which doesn't really show ) got filled in... , then I started a boat..., so now back to Sarah again.

Closer and Closer

Carriage House Samplings - A Primitive Stocking.  Finish #26.  Used called for NPI Silks on 25 count Vintage Country Mocha Lugana, two over one.  Worked on it for three days to finish it.  Seemed like the right thing to work on for Christmas Eve.  Finished the final three letters Christmas Day.  Really happy with the results on that fabric, and a fat quarter is enough to do it easily twice, maybe three times.  And certainly enough thread to do it at least twice or three times.  Finished area stitched is about 16 x 7.  But stitching it several times, you could place the toe area under the heel of the previous one, flip the material so the toe fits at the top and body of the stocking is where the thread is in this photo.  You would not have a three inch border around each one, but you have the sock outline on the pattern.  As long as you stitch whatever first, I think easily three fit without crowding anything too tight.
Long Dog Samplers - Pandemic.  Used more than 11 skeins.  All the motifs are completed.  I still have backstitching yet to do.  You CAN probably do it one over one in 12 skeins of dmc on a 28 count, but you sure can not do it in 11 skeins.  I started with 12, I am gonna make it.  Because I do stitch over one, there ARE backstitches I leave out.  But if you are watching to see how much floss - I would want at least 14 skeins of dmc.  So it's still not done, but it will finish after just a couple more days of working on it.

I am going to spent a time reorganizing my pile of started things.  I started this year with a started already list of projects.  I stopped counting at 87, and there would have been a couple more.  There were a few new projects along the way.  I started Pandemic, and started and finished a Modern Folk Embroidery pattern, and also a With Thy Needle and Thread pattern.  And a few other things got started... but the point was to end with less than the 87 I started with on that list.  Some things got worked on and tossed back into the pile.  Some things never got touched and are still waiting.  I had two of the monthly SAL projects, I still have those to finish.  I already love the Modern Folk one for 2021, but wanna finish the 2020 final parts.  I pushed to get close to the end of Pandemic, and since I am at just fill in a bit of backstitching, I am fine with being slow with a final month of that finish.  I started with only a list, and the plan of "less - not more", at the end of the year.  I still bought things I loved, I still started new things, things from my stash too.  But the key was - try to grab from the started already pile.  Reach into that.  And there was a large Courtney Collection finish.  I still want to do the mirror version of that, but I wanna finish things from the started pile.  I am not ready to die, but I'm too old to have a pile with 100 projects in it.  A few things just got kitted and not started.  But it's not even about if I finished #15 or #25 this year.  The point is - less.  And I think it's time to touch all my piles of started things again.

Let's Start More Things...

Real Comfort - A Jane Austen Sampler from Modern Folk Embroidery.
With just one day of stitching so far.  Stitched on 25 count Victorian Red lugana using white 12wt Sulky thread.  One over one.  It should finish at about 8 inches square.  This is side to side.
Rebecca Nurse by The Primitive Hare.
On 32 count Vintage Country Mocha lugana, two over two.  It's the suggested fabric and dmc flosses.
I am omitting the her name at the bottom.  This is side to side.
Pandemic by Long Dog Samplers.
On 28 count MCG Textiles 28 Evenweave - White.
Using dmc 35, one over one, and the fabric was because I needed something slightly bigger than a fat quarter, and it was 20 x 27 and it should fit.  I am side to side at this point, and still on the first skein of dmc.
Primitive Stocking by Carriage House Samplings.
This is on Vintage Country Mocha 25 count, two over one.  Using the suggested 5 NPI silks.
This is just 3 days of stitching, and it is more than halfway.  I liked the color of the 32 count Vintage County Mocha used in Rebecca Nurse above, so I ordered it in a 25 count for this, and wanted the silks to be solid, so decided two threads.  The 25 count is a lighter dye than the 32 count, but it's working fine.  I don't usually buy the NPI flosses, but it used only 5 - at $5 each.  It should finish at almost 7 inches wide, and 17 inches long.
Like last time, I spent time starting things instead of working on already started things.
I am sure it is a reflection of my life, and the things going good or bad.

Just Keep That Needle Going...

Silver Creek Samplers - Curleylocks.
On 28 count Cameo jobelan using all the suggested dmc floss.
This was a new start and a finish.
Finish #16 for 2020.
You know how if you order a pattern, it can't travel alone?   Curleylocks was the extra pattern so the first pattern didn't travel alone.  Stitched one over one, it's 4.5 x 4 inches.
There are lots of designers I would like to stitch at least one pattern from, this was my first Silver Creek Samplers stitch, and it's from 2008.
Carriage House Samplings - Shores of Hawk Run Hollow.
This design was on the wall at my LNS - now closed LNS.  And so a while back it got started, mostly it got the frame outlined started, and then I started the middle and bottom row boxes on the end.
I tossed the pattern in with my market order, so I started the first row corner box when my market patterns came.  I thought I had the frame outlined till I went to take a photo.  It's on a Colour and Cotton evenweave, but not sure what.  And it got tossed back into the started stuff when Curleylocks showed up.
Next I started one of the small #bewell patterns - and then it will be the April new parts to add.

What a Mess

Sarah Spurr from Carriage House Samplings.
This is where it was when I picked it back up again.
What a mess.  And no clue why this one over any other from the pile of stuff.
And I didn't finish the other one - but maybe next time.
This is where it is as of now.  The border frame I changed to add the red.  The goal was, finish that frame.  And maybe the girl.  And fill in the leaves.  I thought the floor was done, nope, the white blocks are only half filled in.  This is gonna take longer.  Stitched with dmc floss and on laurel green lugana 28 count, one over one.  I am gonna hang in there for a while longer to see if I can get to the end.
